In 2008, the Federation of European Tile Fixers’ Associations (EUF) celebrates its 50th anniversary and will therefore hold two “round tables of the ceramic industry” (the first event will be held 17 and 18 January on the occasion of the Spring Fair in Wels, Austria).
During this event, European wholesalers, tile fixing companies as well as manufacturers of ceramics and adhesives will discuss the issue of “healthier living with ceramics”.
The EUF think that not the entire ceramic industry does take it as natural to include the issues of ecology and health of their products in their philosophy. Therefore, they are lacking the possibility to argue collectively and act consensually. Thus, it is especially crucial to make a clear statement to the consumer and all market participants and elaborate a position on “healthier living with ceramics”.
Manufacturers, commerce and trade are obliged, but also have the chance, to define the advantages and possible disadvantages of this issue together, since health and ecology are the predominant issues of our times. It is essential for the ceramic industry to take stock and face up to the market.
